Film Producers Logo's

Dream Works
Dream Works logo connotes that they are a big company and that they produce lots of children's films. I think this because of where it is set. There is a crescent moon with a child sitting on it fishing. This connotes that they are higher than the rest and better. The clouds and the set of night time connotes the peacefulness and calmness of there films. The colour purple connotes that there films are broad and not just for a particular gender, the colours also creates peacefulness and calmness. The capital letters and the font connotes that it is a big company. The white text looks like it is lighting up the moon and clouds connoting that Dream Works brighten things up. The colour white also connotes the pureness of there films.

Universal

The Universal logo is set in space. The company's name is written in capital letters over the earth, this connotes that they are better than the rest and they are at the top. The text is silver with a gold out line, this connotes that they are expensive and that there movies are of high quality and importance. The glow around the earth connotes how universal lighten up the world with thier films. The overall impression of the universal logo is power.

Dream Street Pictures
Dream Street Pictures uses the colour blue, white and black, these colours are simple and get the point which they are trying to make come across. The colours blue and white connotes naturalness, and peacefulness. At the top centre of the page there is a road with a circle of light around it, the rest is dark. This connotes that Dream Street Pictures films create a light at the end of the tunnel. The words dream street are in block capital letters, this is so it stands out and so people know who it is who has created the film.

Paramount
The Paramount logo is of the top of some mountains. This connotes they are powerful and a large production company. The words Paramount are placed on the tip of the mountain, this connotes that they are of higher power and quality than everyone else and that they are top in the film industry. The font of the company's logo connotes that their films are elegant. The stars surrounding the top of the mountain connotes that Paramount are of high quality and that they have a vast amount of types of films and that they exceed in all types of areas in the film industry. The detailed scenic view connotes that they put a lot of time and detail into their films and the films will be of high quality. The natural colours they use connotes that their films are pure.

Walt Disney
Walt Disney uses the colours blue and white. These colours connote the natural, angelic and pureness of their films. The centre of the page has a picture of a castle. This connotes the power of Walt Disney's films and that their films are fit for a queen. The castle also gives an insight to the audience of what they might expect from a Walt Disney film(e.g. fairy tales). There is a line going around the image of a castle, this connotes that Walt Disney is a well rounded company and that they cover different movie genres and that they are not just for a certain gender or age. The Words Walt Disney are written in bold and capitals in a playful font, this connotes the fun of their company and films, it also attracts a younger audience because it is an attractive font.

Warner Brothers
The Warner Brothers logo is set above the clouds, this connotes that they are above everyone else and are of high importance and quality. The picture in the centre looks like a shield, this connotes that they are stronger and more powerful than any other film company. The shield has the initials of the company on it in block capitals to make it stand and out, this connotes that their company is bold and strong. Their name is then again written ' Warner bros. pictures' on a banner in block capitals which is over the shield, this connotes that Warner Brothers is a company to celebrate and be proud of. The banner curls round the logo connotes that Warner Brothers is a well rounded film Brand. They use the colours blue, white and gold. The blue and white connotes that there films are heavenly and light, the colours fit in with where it is set, this connotes natural and pureness. the gold connotes that Warner Brothers is expensive and has high quality and expectations.

The poster on the left is the most common. It is roughly half text and a half image. The poster has a cream background with a faint image of pylons showing through. This is so it doesnt take away from the main image of the main actor and his horse. They have included ratings from known companys to show off how good the film is.The poster on the right however has more story behind it, however if you have not seen the trailer the image wont make much sense. I think it is effective however due to the colours and quirky images. Here is the films trailer.

The trailer is successful because it gives us an insight into the film. It draws you in and makes you want to know what happens and find out more. All of these factors make it a successful film.

The Film had been advertised through media site like facebook, twitter and youtube. it has also been advertised through TV advertisement, interviews and posters on billboards etc.
The visual advertisement of Gravity clearly shows where the film is based to show an audience what to expect. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's names are also clearly stated in capital letters. This is to interest an audience into watching the film and to give them an insight of what they might expect due to who the actors are. They all also include the films slogan 'Don't let go' which is also in capital letters. They include this on there advertisement so that the film can be recognised and later be known for it. The images on the posters, especially the two above are effortless and simple, this is to concentrate on the astronauts in the picture and to exaggerate the quietness in space in contrast to what the film is really like.

This official teaser trailer is 1 minute and 31 seconds long. It has a total of 8,395,149 views on youtube. The reason I believe it held so much power, atmosphere and tension was due to the sound. At the beginning it is light, subtle and peaceful, 30 seconds into the trailer there is a loud crash sound effect. There is a large contrast between the two and I believe it shocks the viewer. There are repeated stabbing like sounds, heavy breathing and fast pace voices which you can not understand. This mixed in with the fast pace camera shots and graphics all contribute to the manic and confusion of the film and the actors situation. At 1 minute 22 seconds Sandra Bullock says 'anybody, please copy' and it falls silent again. The contrast in sound and fast pace camera shots and graphics makes this film successful.

What I learnt from creating my own swede

During pre production we came across some problems. These were location, props, lighting and time, however we soon resolved them. We learnt that in order to create a swede there needed to be alot of preperation and planning. We needed a location where it was dark but also where you could clearly see the actors, we filmed during the day which proved to be difficult, with thought we asked permission to use the drama studio and the problem was resolved. We needed props which you could not buy for a certain scene and due to the size it needed to be it was not possible to buy, we solved this problem by making it ourselves. We didnt have alot of time to create our swede and therefore it was rushed, the lighting also was not correct. With this in hind sight we learnt we needed to be  more prepared and put more thought and time into pre production. During post production myself and my partner I was editing with had never done editing before, it was new to us. Luckily we had enough footage to work with however we came across technical difficulties. We needed spooky music to add to the eeriness of our swede. We overcame this by trial and error. In the end we overcame our problems and we learnt a great deal about effort, time and planning that needs to go into a swede to make it successful.

Pliminary Task

In this task we filmed short clips and edited them so they fitted in together. we cut out sound and parts of clips we didn't need, we also added a fade to black out at the end so that it ran smoothly. Me and Zoe were acting while Aimee was filming and Courtney was directing us. we all had different jobs we had to follow. during the editing process Zoe and Aimee took control of the editing whilst me and Courtney were telling them which parts to cut and which parts to add.
